Privacy including GDPR
Plain and simple: I don't collect data about you to track you, profile you, sell you, or hand you off to anybody. No analytics watching where you click. No advertising cookies. No third parties peering over your shoulder. Breathe easy. Relax.
A couple of honest specifics, because a privacy promise that hides the fine print isn't worth the pixels it's printed on:
- Server logs. Like every web server on Earth, mine keeps basic access logs—the technical breadcrumbs that let me fix things when they break. I keep them about three days, then they're automatically purged. I don't mine them, I don't profile you with them, and I don't share them with anyone. They exist to troubleshoot, and then they're gone.
- Emailing me (See top option on contact page). If you reach me through the email me link, your email is added to my personal address book. All you have to do is re-email me and I will seek and eliminate it from my address book, but I never send unsolicited email. You email me. I reply with an RE:. If you don't reply or acknowledge receipt, I don't re-email you. I figure that my reply either got intercepted by your spam filter or you chose not to acknowledge my response. You can re-email me yourself, but I will never reply twice to one email.
- My contact form: If you reach me through it, your email isn't added to any address book and nothing is harvested from your message or its headers. You're writing to a person, not feeding a database.
- My newsletter (see form below). If — and only if — you choose to sign up, your email is handled by my own system, on my own server. I no longer use MailChimp, Kit, Constant Contact, or any of the other outfits that love to keep your address for their own purposes. When you sign up with me, you're signing up with me. And you can unsubscribe or ask to be removed anytime, no questions, no hoops.
That's the whole of it. I'm completely uninterested in invading anyone's privacy — just like I hope folks respect mine, which I know they don't, because Machiavellian Monkeys exist, unfortunately. (It's why my phone only takes calls from people I actually know. Yes, I'm one of those people. Frustrates the hell out of the politicians and the telemarketers.)

SUBSCRIBE TO DAWN'S NEWSLETTER. I never send more than one newsletter a week, usually not even that. And your email address is completely private. No corporation will get it, because it is hosted completely on my website, which means that, if you decide to unsubscribe, you are eradicated from the list, never to be contacted again unless you re-subscribe.
